Examine the physical structures of the body in the context of yoga asana practice. Analyze postures to study how the muscles, bones, and joints are used and affected by various movements. Understand both the benefits and risks of yoga postures and movements, and learn how to adapt various postures for common injuries in this weekend-long training.
Designed for yoga teachers, yoga teachers in training, school teachers, counselors, social workers, and others who work with youth who have a genuine interest in teaching yoga and mindfulness to youth in schools and community organizations, with a focus on those that mostly work with underserved youth.
In this special 6 hour clinic you will learn how to apply the philosophy of yoga and the motivation of hypnosis to reach your weight loss goals. We will begin by studying basic yoga postures and how they can be accessed by virtually anyone and how they aid in weight loss.
This course introduces the many ways we can utilize assists in the yoga classroom, from verbal clarification and effective demonstration to deeper hands-on adjustments. We’ll discuss intelligently selecting the types of assists to use in teaching, consider the implications of including them, practice specific techniques, and give and receive feedback in practicing. Participants will gain confidence in offering effective physical assists to bring students from a single-pointed focus to a multi-dimensional, whole-body and spirit awareness in their practice.
